Asupan Serat Dan Kejadian Hiperkolesterolemia Pada Guru SD Di Kecamatan Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh
abstrak: The prevalence of hypercholesterolemia on average in Indonesia reached 19.8%. Fiber in the diet can lower cholesterol by binding to bile acids that can lower cholesterol and excreted from the body through feces. This study aimed to determine the fiber intake and incidence of hypercholesterolemia in a primary school teacher in Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh. The study used cross-sectional design, samples were 52 teachers of elementary school in Ulee Kareng sub district by simple random sampling methode. Fiber intake data were collected by twenty four hour food recall methode, whereas cholesterol levels by checking blood cholesterol levels using a test strip benecheck koleseterol. Analysis of the data used chi-square test at 95 % confidence level . The results showed an average fiber intake of 15 ± 6.4 g , and the average blood cholesterol levels 210 ± 58.8g/dl. Most of the samples have less fiber intake (59.6%) and 55.8 % had hiperkolestolemia. Hypercholesterolemia affects more by less intake of fiber samples (74.2 %), whereas in the sample with sufficient fiber intake is only 28.6 % . The results of statistical tests found a significant association of fiber intake with blood cholesterol levels p=0.003 (p<0.05).
